DESIGNED BY
Creating a contemporary concept that is timeless and with a hint of luxury was considered in planning the choice of materials and the uses of space. To increase the perspective of space for this 5rm BTO, the kitchen wall was hacked off to create an open concept kitchen with an island. A wooden ceiling feature was designed to aesthetically conceal the beam that divides the kitchen and living area. Bedroom 2 was converted into a walk in wardrobe room with a dresser unit to allow for a king size bed in the master bedroom and still have adequate empty space around.

Choice of materials was extravagant in both flooring and cabinet finishings to achieve an elegant concept. Large size homogeneous tiles measuring 800mm x 800mm were laid for the living room and polished to crystal shine. Marble lookalike Italian tiles were laid on a long suspended TV feature wall that stretches from the shoe cabinet to the living windows. The 65 inch TV mounted on the feature wall doesn't look too overwhelming due to the large size of the feature wall around it. Black glass panels for cabinet doors created a classy and gloss look that compliments very well with the brown laminate finishes by Lamitak.

More storage space was possible with a long kitchen cabinet and a 7 feet long island with Quartz counter top. The dining area features a tinted brown mirror wall that matches the colour scheme of the living and dining area. Careful consideration was taken to balance the use of black and brown elements to avoid making the place look dark and heavy. The use of earthy and warm colours, with strategically placed cove lights on false ceiling and suspended cabinets in the living and dining areas, helps to create a cosy and inviting feel to the house.

Bedrooms were laid with vinyl flooring for a softer feel. Bathrooms floors and walls were overlaid with new tiles and cabinets installed for toiletries.

A rather ordinary and standard looking HDB house has totally transformed into a classy apartment, a dream come true for a newly wedded couple that appreciates the finer things in life.
