A 4rm HDB unit at Pasir Ris was given a complete makeover to achieve a modern victorian look that is brighter, spacious and with more storage space. The main consideration was how we are going to improve the layout of the existing furniture and cabinets.

Firstly for the living area, a duo side TV console with integrated shoe cabinet and settee was designed and positioned perpendicularly to the main door and facing the living and dining area. It acted as a partition and created somewhat like a walkway from the main entrance into the house. This TV console was designed like a fireplace for a more appealing look, and the shoe cabinet at the rear that faces the walkway with bronze tinted mirror on the wall to create a more spacious feel. There are two settees at both ends of this cabinet to facilitate wearing of shoes and socks.

Secondly, the dining area is position at the back of the sofa and in front of the kitchen. A long dining table with marble top was chosen to compliment the overall look and layout of the dining area. Panels of clear mirrors were install along the full length of the dining wall, with a nice painting hung in the middle.

The original kitchen walls were hacked away to allow for more space. A white wooden frame with clear glass and lattice design sliding door closes up the kitchen with a contrasting black and white concept. Black and white floor tiles were laid in a diamond formation to add visual impact. Kitchen cabinet has a black matt finish with bronze handles, tinted glass, black quartz and mosaic tiles backslash. With the added space, we created a kitchen island that is movable on wheels.

The master bedroom features a long wardrobe with a concealed door to the bathroom. One common bedroom was designed with lots of storage space, display shelves, study table and a custom built pull out bed for a teenage boy. The other bedroom has a buildup platform with just a mattress without bed frame for a cosier and relax concept.

Lastly to enhance the victorian concept at the living room, wood trimmings and mouldings were applied on the cabinets. The lower part of the living walls were installed with chair rails and simple wainscot trimmings, with an English style wallpaper on the upper walls, and ceiling moulds along the cove lights. Colours were kept to mostly white with dark coloured furnishings.
